Breast Augmentation in Korea

A natural result starts with a careful plan. At Ryan Plastic Surgery Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, Dr. Choi Sangmun focuses on breast surgery and works with each patient — in Korea or traveling from abroad — to choose an approach that fits their body, goals, and comfort with risk.

What breast augmentation can do

Breast augmentation uses an implant to increase size and improve shape and symmetry. The goal is a result that looks natural in proportion to your frame — not a single “ideal” shape, but the one that suits you.

Is it right for you?

You may be a candidate if you are in good general health, have realistic expectations, and want more volume or improved shape. A consultation is needed to confirm suitability and to review your medical history.

Your options, planned together

  • Implant type: modern silicone devices, including Motiva Ergonomix and SmoothSilk, selected to fit your anatomy and goals.
  • Placement: above or below the chest muscle, chosen based on your tissue.
  • Incision: inframammary fold, periareolar, or transaxillary — each with different trade-offs.
  • Size and profile: selected with sizing tools and your goals, within what is safe for your anatomy.

If you would prefer a more natural, modest enhancement, ask about hybrid augmentation, which combines an implant with your own fat.

Recovery

Swelling and tightness in the first days are normal, with a gradual return to light daily activity over the following weeks and a progressive return to exercise as you are cleared. Your individual recovery plan — including how long international patients should stay in Korea for initial follow-up before flying — is set by your surgeon. These timelines are general guidance and vary between individuals.

Risks and considerations

All surgery carries risk. For breast implants these can include bleeding, infection, changes in nipple or breast sensation, scarring, implant rupture or deflation, rippling, asymmetry, and capsular contracture (hardening of scar tissue around the implant). Implants are not considered lifetime devices, and future revision surgery may be needed. There is also a rare association between certain textured breast implants and BIA-ALCL, a type of lymphoma; your surgeon will discuss current device choices and monitoring. All relevant risks will be reviewed with you before you decide.
