Hybrid Breast Augmentation in Korea

Hybrid breast augmentation combines a breast implant with a transfer of your own fat. At Ryan Plastic Surgery Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, Dr. Choi Sangmun uses this approach to soften the look and feel of an implant while still providing reliable volume — aiming for a result that reads as natural.

Why combine an implant with fat?

An implant provides predictable shape and fullness. A layer of your own fat, grafted over and around it, can help camouflage implant edges, improve the transition at the upper breast, and give a softer feel. Together they can address goals that neither approach achieves as well alone.

Is it right for you?

Hybrid augmentation may suit you if you want the reliability of an implant but a more natural look and feel, and if you have enough donor fat for grafting. Suitability is confirmed at consultation, after reviewing your anatomy and medical history.

What to expect

  • Liposuction of a donor area to harvest fat, which also contours that area.
  • Placement of an implant such as Motiva Ergonomix or SmoothSilk, chosen for your anatomy.
  • Grafting of processed fat to refine the result.
  • Some transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed, so final volume is less than the amount injected.

Recovery

Expect swelling and bruising at both the donor and breast areas in the first weeks, with a gradual return to daily activity. Your surgeon sets your individual recovery plan, including how long international patients should stay in Korea before flying. Final results settle over several months. Timelines are general guidance and vary between individuals.

Risks and considerations

Hybrid augmentation carries the risks of both implant surgery and fat grafting. These can include bleeding, infection, changes in sensation, scarring, asymmetry, implant rupture, rippling, capsular contracture, partial fat reabsorption, fat necrosis, oil cysts, and calcifications. Implants are not lifetime devices and future revision may be needed. Some imaging changes from fat grafting can affect future breast screening — inform your radiologist. There is a rare association between certain textured implants and BIA-ALCL. All relevant risks will be reviewed with you before you decide.
